Treepot Media is a production company based in Ottawa, Canada, that produces and collaborates on documentaries, short films, music, event and promotional videos. The company found its roots in treepot.tv, a sandbox where emerging filmmakers and musicians collaborated to stream indie music programs on the web. Operating for three years, Treepot.tv launched a few careers and was nominated for Canada’s Best Music Website in CBCRadio 3 Spotlight contest in 2011.
Treepot Media’s short film and documentary collaborations have appeared on nationally broadcast programs in Canada and have screened at festivals all over the world. We produced an innovative web series the Treepot Cliffhanger, which matched sponsors and directors who collaborated on threading a single story though chapters of a cinematic chain-letter over the course of an entire year.
Treepot Media is a key collaborator of Ottawa Indie Fest, a cultural, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to recognize, promote and celebrate the art of cinema by showcasing independent Ottawa, Canadian and international films and filmmakers. This work is a continuation of the work we started with the Treepot Independent Filmmaker Showcase screenings of curated films at movie theatres, auditoriums and parks.
Our latest projects include Drum with Us, an advocacy video for ACTRA National’s Diversity Committee and the short films Jasmin et Macarons, a conversation between a woman and her two friends over afternoon tea and Before Me, a film that explores social intolerance and its impact on children.
